At Emily Howard Training, the health and safety of our students is our top priority. We strive to create a safe and supportive environment where students can focus on their dance training while also prioritising their physical and emotional well-being. As a dance school, it is crucial that students, parents, and staff work together to maintain a safe space where all individuals are protected from harm, both inside and outside of the classroom.
All students are expected to inform their teacher of any injuries, medical conditions, or health concerns before attending class. This information allows teachers to adjust exercises and class routines as needed, ensuring that students can participate safely while minimising the risk of further injury. If a student is recovering from an injury, it is important that they communicate with their teacher about their physical limitations, so modifications can be made to avoid exacerbating the condition. This is essential not only for the student's well-being but also to prevent injuries from occurring to other students, as certain exercises or movements may be unsafe for those who are injured.
In the event that a student does experience an injury during class, basic first aid will be administered by staff, and parents will be contacted if necessary. All staff members are trained in basic first aid procedures, and we have a first aid kit available in the studio at all times. In more serious cases, emergency medical services will be contacted immediately, and the parents or guardians of the student will be notified as quickly as possible. We ask that parents keep us informed of any changes in their child’s medical history or health conditions throughout the year so that we can continue to provide the most suitable and safe environment for them.
Students who are feeling unwell should refrain from attending class to prevent the spread of illness to others and to avoid aggravating their own condition. This includes any student exhibiting symptoms of contagious illnesses such as cold, flu, or COVID-19. We request that parents keep their children at home if they are feeling sick or showing any signs of illness. Attending class while unwell can not only hinder the recovery of the individual student but can also pose a health risk to other students and staff. If a student is absent due to illness, parents should inform the studio as soon as possible, and any necessary medical documentation may be required if the absence is extended.
Maintaining a clean and hygienic environment is also a critical aspect of health and safety. The studio is regularly cleaned and sanitised, and we ask that all students help us maintain this standard by following proper hygiene practices. Students should wash their hands before and after class, especially after using shared equipment or touching common surfaces. Additionally, all personal items, such as water bottles, clothing, and footwear, should be kept separate to minimise cross-contamination. Personal items should be labelled with the student's name, and we ask that they be stored in designated areas to keep the studio neat and organised.
Health and safety also extend to the mental well-being of our students. We aim to create an environment where students feel emotionally safe and supported. It is important that students are encouraged to communicate any emotional or mental health concerns to their teachers or the administration. Should any concerns arise, the staff at Emily Howard Training will work with parents and guardians to provide the appropriate support. We are committed to maintaining a positive and inclusive environment where all students feel valued, respected, and safe to express themselves.
By adhering to these health and safety guidelines, we ensure that Emily Howard Training remains a secure and positive place for students to develop their skills. The collaboration between students, parents, and staff in maintaining health standards ensures that every individual is supported in their journey of learning and personal growth. Together, we can create a dance school that promotes not only technical proficiency but also the overall well-being of everyone involved.
