At Emily Howard Training, regular attendance is essential to a student’s growth, development, and success in their dance education. Consistent attendance ensures that students can fully participate in lessons, develop their skills, and progress within their classes. It is expected that students arrive on time for each class, as punctuality plays a key role in maintaining the structure of the lesson and the overall flow of the day’s activities. To ensure that students are well-prepared and able to fully engage in the class, we recommend arriving at least 10 minutes before the scheduled start time. This allows students to settle in, warm up, and mentally prepare for the session. Late arrivals can disrupt the class, interrupting the focus and flow of the lesson. In cases of late arrival, students may not be permitted to join the class immediately if it would interfere with the ongoing instruction, as it may affect both their own learning and that of their peers.
In addition to punctuality, regular attendance is crucial for students to make steady progress in their dance studies. Missing class can result in gaps in knowledge and technique, making it difficult for students to catch up and keep up with the rest of the class. If a student is unable to attend a class for any reason, it is important that parents inform the studio in advance, preferably at least 24 hours prior to the scheduled class. This allows the studio to plan accordingly and, where possible, offer make-up classes for missed lessons. Make-up classes are subject to availability and must be completed within the same term to ensure that students do not fall behind in their training.
In cases where a student misses multiple classes without notifying the studio, or if absences become frequent, it can affect their ability to keep up with the rest of the class, their individual progress, and their participation in performances or examinations. As part of our commitment to providing the best educational experience for each student, we ask parents to keep us informed of any prolonged absences due to illness or other special circumstances. By staying in communication with the studio, we can work together to address any concerns and ensure that the student’s learning is not compromised.
Attendance is also crucial when preparing for performances and competitions. For these events, regular class attendance is necessary to ensure that students are adequately prepared and can perform to the best of their abilities. Extra rehearsals and preparations may be scheduled leading up to performances, and these rehearsals are mandatory for all students participating in these events. Students who miss too many classes or rehearsals may not be able to participate in performances or competitions, as it would be unfair to the rest of the group and may affect the quality of the overall performance.
At Emily Howard Training, we strive to create an environment where every student has the opportunity to succeed and reach their full potential. By maintaining consistent attendance, students not only improve their technical skills and knowledge but also contribute to the overall energy and success of the class. We ask for the cooperation of both students and parents in ensuring that attendance remains a priority, so that each student can make the most of their time at the studio and continue progressing in their dance education.
